Cohabitation

Your former spouse is living together with someone else in a relationship that is referred to as “cohabitation”?

You are paying alimony to your “ex”?

Could your former spouse’s “solid relationship” with a new partner mean that his/her entitlement to maintenance has been forfeited?

In Germany, your former spouse may have forfeited his/her entitlement to maintenance according to Section 1579 No. 2 BGB (German Civil Code). A reason to discontinue or reduce maintenance payments exists if and when the partners in the new relationship share a common economic base, meaning that the person entitled to maintenance finds his/her livelihood in the new supportive relationship or socio-economic union.

For this to be the case, the partners in the new relationship do not necessarily have to live together in a common household.

The agents from Fritsch Private Investigators will also investigate for you in case you suspect that your former spouse is illegally receiving maintenance from you.

Fritsch Private Investigators will supply you with proof and your lawyer will provide you with legal assistance.

Obtain certainty.
